The terms on which yacademypress.com is offered, and how the Press handles personal information. Updated November 2026.
This website is operated by Y Academy Press, an imprint of Y Academy, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In these terms “we” means Y Academy Press and “you” means anyone using the site.
You may browse the site and buy from it for your own use. You agree not to misuse it: no attempts to break or overload it, to reach accounts or files that are not yours, or to copy its content in bulk.
If you create an account, keep your password to yourself. An account is for one person and may not be shared.
Prices are shown in Canadian dollars. Applicable taxes and shipping are added at checkout and shown before you pay. A contract is formed when we confirm your order by email. If a price is shown in error, we will contact you before charging.
Refunds, returns and shipping are covered on the refunds and returns page.
A digital book or a membership gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to read the work. It does not transfer copyright. You may not share, resell, upload or otherwise redistribute files, and you may not share a membership account. Digital files may carry the purchaser’s name to discourage redistribution.
Memberships run for a year, renew unless cancelled, and are not refundable. Downloaded digital content is not returnable. We may suspend an account that is used in breach of these terms, for example one shared between several people or used to download the catalogue in bulk.
The books, articles, designs and marks on this site belong to Y Academy Press, its authors or its licensors. Short quotations with attribution are welcome; anything more needs written permission.
A manuscript or proposal you send remains yours. We use it only to assess it for publication, keep it confidential, and do not place it into any AI tool that retains or trains on what it is given, as the Generative AI policy requires.
We collect what we need to run the Press: your name, email and postal address for orders and accounts; what you tell us through our forms; and, if you subscribe, your email for the newsletter. Payments are processed by our payment providers; we do not store card numbers.
We use this information to fulfil orders, manage memberships, answer messages and, with your consent, send the newsletter. Newsletter emails are sent only to people who have agreed to receive them, and every email has a link to unsubscribe.
We share personal information only with the services that help us run the Press, such as payment providers, shipping carriers and our email service, and only as far as each needs it. We do not sell it.
We keep information for as long as an account is active or the law requires, then delete it. You may ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, or withdraw consent, by writing to us. We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
The site uses cookies that it needs to work, such as those that keep your cart and your sign-in, and cookies that measure how the site is used. Your browser lets you refuse or delete cookies; some features may then not work.
We take care to keep the site accurate and available but cannot promise it will always be either. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from use of the site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. We may update them; the date at the top shows the current version.
