Questions, orders and help

Answers to what readers, instructors and authors ask most.

Books

Who publishes Y Academy Press books?

Y Academy Press itself. The Press holds its own ISBN prefix through Library and Archives Canada, so it is the publisher of record on every title.

How is a book edited?

Every manuscript passes four editorial stages: developmental review, structural and line editing, copyediting, and a final proofread. Nothing skips a stage because a deadline is close.

Does the Press use AI?

Where AI tools are used anywhere in a manuscript’s development, that use is disclosed. The rules are set out in the Generative AI policy.

Courses and instructors

What is in a textbook?

Course-ready texts with learning objectives, key terms and structured review material, each built to the Press’s textbook specification.

Authors

What does the Press publish?

Trade nonfiction and textbooks.

How do I submit a manuscript?

Send a synopsis, one or two sample chapters and a short author biography through the proposal form.
